  • Engaging Parents and Families as Partners in Adolescent Reproductive Health and Sexuality (2003)
Developed by the Center for Applied Research and Technical Assistance (CARTA), this guide shares both the challenges and opportunities for partnering with parents and families in support of healthy sexual development of youth, based on findings from site visits to four parental involvement programs and grounded in some 19 parental engagement programs across the country. This guide provides an opportunity to define parental engagement and illustrates different levels of parental engagement given varying political contexts and public support. This guide also outlines a process for thinking through whether your agency may be ready for parental engagement and what type of program might be appropriate given the local context.

  • Supervising HIV Prevention Services (2004)
This item is a training curriculum that can be used by trainers to deliver a two-day training for staff who want to learn strategies to better support HIV prevention counselors through supervision. This curriculum is divided into separate modules; facilitators may choose to offer the training in its entirely or modified based on audience need. While the agenda has been created to present the material in a logical order to enhance participation and learning, a skilled facilitator will find that modules can be taught individually depending on level of audience knowledge, skill, and experience. The material in this curriculum is based on the CDC-developed Fundamentals of HIV Prevention Counseling curriculum (1999) and the Revised Guidelines for HIV Counseling, Testing and Referral (2001).
